Reviewing The Pigeon Forge Jellystone RV Camp Resort

I love going to the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area because there are so many activities, including the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I have stayed at the Pigeon Forge Jellystone RV Camp Resort twice (2018 and 2020) and you are conveniently located to many things, including Dollywood which is only a couple minute drive away. In fact, during the daytime, you can actually hear the train whistle from Dollywood. The park is also only minutes from the Old Mill Shopping area where you can enjoy shopping, dining and wine, cider, and whiskey tasting.

The Check-In Process

When making a reservation at this Jellystone RV Resort, if the location in the park is important, you will need to pay an additional amount to guarantee a specific site. Otherwise, upon check-in, your assigned RV site may change (but within the same category). The check-in staff was friendly and helpful in providing information about the area. The check-in office has a small store for basic needs and souvenirs and offers pizza and chicken wings delivered to your site. During my 2020 fall visit, the park was very busy on the weekends (Friday-Sunday), so if you check-in on the weekend you could experience delays and congestion at the entrance.

The RV Sites

Since my first visit in 2018, there were numerous upgrades to the RV sites. Currently, each of the RV sites is back-in only and they have level concrete pads. If you have the option available, I would choose at a minimum a standard site that provides a stamped concrete pad with an extended area for camping comfort. Each site offers full hookups including cable tv with about 30 channels. The Wi-Fi was good and allowed streaming but the weekends resulted in a slower connection with the park being much busier. During this visit, I stayed at site #12 which is located next to the pool and laundry areas. If you like to sleep in, this can be negative when the kids are in the pool early (surprisingly in cool September temperatures).

Each of the sites has a fire ring pit but most seem to not be ideally located. Some friends I was traveling with needed to ask the staff to move the adjoining site’s fire pit which was located way too close for safety to their fifth wheel RV.

The Amenities

The amenities are basics that you would find in most RV Campgrounds. Overall, the campground is well maintained. In 2018 there was a fenced dog area but in 2020 the area was converted to a playground.

Review & Recommendations

Having stayed at this campground twice, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. During the time frame I stayed, I found the rates in the mid-range of surrounding RV Campgrounds. On my next visit to the area, I will most likely explore other campgrounds in the area so I have future options. Since I really enjoy the area, the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area is one of my go-to getaway destinations. Depending on when you visit, the availability can be limited, so It is highly recommended to make advanced reservations. One important thing to know if you tend to order from Amazon and deliver to your campground, make sure you use the address of 3404 Whaley Dr, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, 37863. I would also add C/O Jellystone RV Camp Resort. I learned that there is also 3404 Whaley Rd that is in Sevierville that also goes by Pigeon Forge. That is where my package went. Amazon did re-ship the item to the correct address at no additional charge.

Good Sam’s gives the campground a 10/10*/9.5 rating.
